Lalgarh is located in Jhargram district of West Bengal. The largest population of tribals in the Lalgarh region, which is very backward in the field of education. Government General Degree College Lalgarh is the only college of this area, which was established in 2014. In view of the regional tribals population our college started Santali for pass course in 2014 and Santali Honours degree course from 2016. Santali has its own independent department in the college. The main objective of the department is 1 to create social awareness and interest in education in tribal people. 2 Develop intellectual knowledge and develop life values in the students. 3 To improve the standard of living by preserving and developing the tribal society and culture.
Special Achievement: The department has successfully passed out the students of five session. Many students are studying post-graduation courses in various universities and many are working in private and government sectors.
