The department has started its journey with B.Sc. (Biological Science) General course from the academic session 2016-2017 in accordance with the order from the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. Now the department is well organized with its two well occupied laboratories and three class rooms for students. The department also has nearly 300 copies of books of different authors in their college central library. The Department has an intake capacity for B.Sc. (Bio science) general of 30 students.
Objectives:
The Department is established in the rural area of Lalgarh in the Jhargram District of West Bengal with its aims to provide quality education in the field of Zoology with its different specialization. The study of Zoology also aims to increase the knowledge of students about the flora and fauna found in their local environment and its ecological aspect. Practical work in the laboratory and field trips during study of zoology provide opportunities for students to gain hands-on knowledge of the living system. Our aim is to provide quality education, to provide a strong foundation in the concepts of animal structure, function and behaviour, to facilitate Higher education and research in zoology, to provide quality education offering skill-based programs and motivate the students for self- employment in applied branches of Zoology and to encourage students for higher studies.
